As i was replacing the heaters levers ..... :-[ i found the 2 air ducts very damaged so must replace them... and i need for good acces to take off the wiper mechanism. I think that i have to pull the two wiper threaded pins inside the bulkhead . The problem is the circlip which hold the pin outside. It has no hole at its end to insert a plier to open it?
Is there a trick to do that or am i misunderstanding something ?

i think i remember you can remove the washer and gasket under the big nut ( which you have removed already) and then push the wiper spindle into the passenger compartment
-
yes y're right i done that but it doesn't give enough room ! i can't take out the mechanism. I have to move out the bulkheadf all i can ... I slide out the rods which operate the air flaps and .... found a broken one , this one which operate the heater valve :-[

I'll stop working in the garage..... too much problem in a short time, i need some rest ! a good diner and a night, tomorow my brain will be more "calm" ::)

your brain and energy level will be different in the morning. its amazing how tiredness and frustration can zap your brain. good luck

Big job. Things should go better in the morning.

After a good night…. ;) the mood is better ! above y'll see the broken flap, i 'd be able to fix that with some époxy and glass wool tissue .

But to take off the wipers mechanism i Wonder how i can separate the left one instead of the right one which is easy to pop off :
Here is the left one, can i pry out the levers?

Thank's WRE i have done a "refurbishing" with glass wool and a quick mastic very impressive but very quick …! i had just time to fold the tissue around the edges . Now it's strong enough

was not able to remember the details of removing the drivers side wiper linkage. here are some related pics tha may help. everytime i use my heater/defrost levers i'm so very careful. i'm afraid the rubber levers are going to break and ill need to tear the dash apart. maybe thats a reason for only driving the sl in the summer

Best to keep them moving on a regular basis no matter what the season. I always have my heater fan running, not on high, but running so it keeps running. Same with all the heater controls. Move them regularly and make sure to run the heat and move coolant through the heater core. Sitting disease is what will kill the car or components on the car. Regular movement is the key (not only with cars).

The plastic air ducts have an air exit by the hose whose diameter is smaller than the original one . I needed to put a strong double face tape to avoid loosening !

I spent also time and have pain to fit new rubber grommet where the operating cables pass through the front bulkhead .

Now i am waiting for all he foam or rubber parts before fitting the flaps and air ducts bolted . That's enough for this Week end ! it's crazy when i realise that at the beginning it was "only" a blocked lever…. and i put one finger in it and now all my arm is concerned… one problem hide another one and so on ... ::)
-
You may want to take a look at grommets for washer liquid hose. If they are bad, they leak water inside.
-
I am fitting new rubber joint around the "flaps" and i Don't remember ( ni forgot the photo :() how is fitted the asymetric rubber on the main flap between the windshield and the bonnet . I think the convex side must be looking updown at the front lip and down at the rear side.

If someone can show a photo of it's car…. i'd appreciate very much...

I'm not sure why you would want to remove the wiper linkage to replace the defrost ducts. I realize that the ducts are hard to remove but that's not how I would do it.

Here is a pic of the gasket. I didn't see the filter in your pic. You can see that as well in the attached pic

I thought I mention about the rattling plate maybe: https://www.sl113.org/wiki/Electrical/HeaterCore

I have only unscrewed the wipers threaded pin so the wipers linkage let me have some room enough to slide the left air duct at it's right place. No problem for the right one.
Jeff i have a new air foam filter not yet fitted… I am on the flaps , gluing the new rubber seals.
Tomorow i'll check the heater valve and fit a new oring.
I have some time before refitting all the parts of the Dashboard because i sent today the speedo counter for calibration after calculations
50 rounds of the rear Wheel for 31.75 rounds of the speedo cable . 30 cm for the Wheel radius . I'll get it back in 10 days ….
