I am thinking of purchasing a tonneau cover for my 230SL but can only find one for a 280SL. Except for the seat headrests of a 280SL, is the convertible top cover plate and cockpit dimensions essentially the same?
-
I would think so.
-
Exactly the same but as you said, head rests can be, but not necessarily depending on which country the vehicle was delivered to, on the 280.
-
If it's the California Car Covers one you're looking at, it fits on my 280
Though oddly they assume that I only have one wing mirror - and that on driver's side on an LHD car
But it works a treat for the purpose and is easy to take on and off

Hi James - Might you have a car photo with the tonneau on?
-
Sorry, I don't..
-
James - Does it look like this?

This is a tonneau fitted to a 280 SL by an upholstery shop here in Stockholm.
I do have on my shelf a real M-B tonneau, made for the W113 Pagoda. This is in black Sonnenland fabric.
I would consider letting that go. I'll take a look and provide some pictures

No - mine goes over the front of the windscreen and is used when parked

Are the snap posts drilled into the sheet metal?

Hello TJ.,
Are you still looking for a tonneau cover?
I have one - which I am considering to sell.
Best,
