Title: Anyone put their car together from a bare shell?
Post by: Shvegel on September 26, 2019, 09:34:57
I am about to put the under dash area back together and the problem I have is I didn't take it apart.  I am wondering if anyone has a rough outline as to the order things go back together?  I figure the firewall pads then Wiper linkage and then heater box but wanted to be sure before I end up messing up and having to backtrack.

Just been doing the same thing the past couple of weeks.
That is the order i did.
Next i refitted the wiring loom, heater blower, heater cables/ fresh air flap, washer hose routed through dash, steering box and column.
( note the cardboard demister vent above the column should go in before the column. I forgot to but intend to rectify this next time i go in the garage.

Are you installing a new firewall grommet on your wiring harness? I have a trick for doing that without removal of any connectors on the harness.

Thanks everyone for chiming in.

Waltklatt, Wow.  Sounds like you have done this a time or two.  Thanks for detailed checklist.

Since a few have asked for my tips on replacing the firewall grommet, I will create a separate post under the electrical section. I will put a description and link to my google photo album there. Before you start, you will need to get a 1-1/2" and 1-1/4" sink "tail piece" from your hardware or home improvement store.
