Hi Everybody,
New to the forum and have enjoyed reading all of the helpful information here. I inherited my parents beloved 1971 280SL seven years ago and I am now restoring it for those Sunday drives. I'm in the process of replacing the seat belts and in removing them noticed this anchor point behind each seat. Anyone know what it is for?

Threaded knob that holds the parcel shelf in place.

That is a machine screw that secures the wooden platform/ledge behind the driver's seat. There is also one behind the passenger's seat. These are removable. I have a stereo amplifier installed under mine.

The car looks very neat - at least what we see in the picture. Very nice heritage and nice initiative!

Thanks for everyone's replies, it is so helpful. The car is in pretty good shape as my father and I did a fair amount of work on it in the 90's, but unfortunately it hasn't been driven for 12+ years so my son and I are in the process of getting everything working and making it the beauty she once was. I don't think I could do the restoration without this forum so to everybody, THANKS.
