I like to change the chromebezel of both tacho and speedo. Is there a special set of tools necessary and is there a trick to remove them. Also I would like to know if the bezel of the instrumentcluster can be bought seperate. If so does anybody know the partsnumber and do I remove it the same way as the tacho? Regards to all, Paul

The bezels are 'crimped' onto the instruments. I have pried them off to clean the glass on the inside of all three, sucessfully. You simply pry open as much as necessary to lift the bezels off. When reattaching, you crimp them back on. Be careful with the chrome!

Cees, do you have a favorite tool for this surgery? I'm imagining a thin wider blade rather that a small flat-head screwdriver or the like.

Hi James. I don't recall - you have to see what fits between the chrome and the body of the instrument. But as you indicate, a wider blade would seem to be better than a small one.

Paul,
find some other infos here:

Availabilies:
Paul, I did not find any bezels on Google.com,
by entering english search terms, but were suc-
cesful by using German search term "chromring
tacho pagode". Several sources for that part in
Germany.

Tom, thanks for the info, Cees you too; I know where to buy the bezels for tacho and speedo but the central cluster's bezel seems to be a problem. No where did I find a seperate one (SLS, pagodenteile.de, 113.mbz.org/,Van Dijk, Koelner Sl...)I noticed on Ebay someone sold the frontplate only for about 800$ (glass + bezel)new!! The search goes on.

Try the recommended instrument rebuilders such as North Hollywood Speedometer and Palo Alto Speedometer. Both are listed in the Database under Parts and Service Providers. I have visited NH Speedometer and they have hundreds of parts hanging on the walls.

Paul,
the ebay item was part no. 0005420156 matching all 113
& 111 Coupe/Conv. This part is NLA anyway ! The Euro
Version ist still available but 764,46 Euro (0005421556).
Unfortunately the tools of the bezel do no longer exist.
Of course there are sources who still stock small numbers
of NOS, but not willing to sell the bezels as a single spare-
part. One has to send the instrument, they will clean it, re-
pair it and send it back with a new bezel on it.

Tips: when remowing the chromring -try to "crimp" the case with a hose fastner (or whatever you call it in english - se picture) - that will ease the process...

With new chrome bezels in hand for the speedometer and tachometer, how do I crimp them in place without distortion? I've been a little timid; are they soft enough to start bending by hand and then progressively move to hard tools for the final tight clamp?
