Is that the "pocket" in the rear if you would lift off the rear wood hatches?

Yes indeed. The area inside the SL, below the B pillar

Yes, under the rear parcel shelf, passenger/right side. One of the first places to look for rust when inspecting these cars. That does not look healthy! I'm suddenly feeling better about my own car! :)

I would not buy this car without a full inspection of the undercarriage as there are many red flags. Good from far but far from good.

given how bad these areas are, pretty good indication of significant rust in the integrated frame rails. I agree with the complete inspection.
