Title: Air conditioner instal
Post by: dpreston Virginia on June 28, 2019, 00:50:13
I purchased a complete A/C unit from
Buds Benz. It has always been frustrating during the summer that I couldn’t drive my Pagoda to work. Fine in the morning but if I drive it around to lunch or to the athletic club I was sweating in the car even with the top off.
The Buds Benz unit is fantastic. I have driven my car 500 miles over the last two weeks. I doubt I drive it that much in a year. So much fun to have the cold A/C option.
I even took my dad out for Father’s Day. He loves the old cars even at 92.
So if you are thinking of going with A/C don’t wait Buds has what you need. Their tech Brad was very helpful.

Buds can instal but I had it installed by my mechanic. I think the complete unit is $2100 not labor to instal. Took my guy close to 2 full days to instal.
Look at their website.
Also they can refurbish you current unit with all new modern parts. A friend in Roanoke is doing the refurbish now, his old A/C just wasn’t cold enough on hot days. He drives his Pagoda every day to work.

Some drivers have just gotten so soft in their old age.

cool! (literally!)

Bravo!  That's quite an undertaking retrofitting AC.

The world is getting hotter.

Life is too short to be miserable driving your baby.

Fixed the picture for you; kind of hard to see the way it was.

Nice looking set up.
Do you feel a difference in throttle response and a small power loss with the AC on ?
I wonder how much horse power the AC unit needs?

Right.  And I'm curious if it's hooked up to the Constant Speed solenoid so that the RPM on idle doesn't go way down on idle?

I really haven’t noticed any change while driving or at idle.
It has to take some horse power but I don’t notice it.
I haven’t adjusted the idle or the solenoid since the instal. I may set up the idle a tiny bit just to not let it get too low at stop lights. No staling has occurred to date.
