Going on holiday soon and would like a good book on any aspect / history of the W113 . Does anyone have any recommendations for some good poolside literature ?

I have and like this one, it should keep you busy on the pool :)

There are a few. They come up on ebay and you might even post on the "Wanted to Buy" section of this site if you are a full member.
There is one by Laurence Meredith that has a great deal of data but not always 100% accurate I believe. Also the Brian Long book is a good one.
There are some listed here...

Hi,
- Brian Long: Mercedes-Benz SL W113 Series: 1963-1971 (Englisch)
- Günter Engelen: Mercedes-Benz 190 SL - 280 SL: Vom Barock zur Pagode (German)

My experience with the literature is, that the books written by English authors in the UK, feature heavily on the RH drive versions and sold-in-the-UK model variants.
While this may not be an issue most of the time, in some cases, it leaves open questions and causes confusion.

You find info about various books in our Tech Manual pages on this website
https://www.sl113.org/wiki/Documents/Start (https://www.sl113.org/wiki/Documents/Start)
under "Other Literature"
The most complete and trustworthy is Guenther Engelen "Vom Barock zur Pagode" and his other two books (see attachment). "Faszination SL" is dual language English/German.
