Anyone try a kinder seat from a 107 for our cars?
-
I would think that the 107 would be too wide for the 113. I guess it can be done with some alterations. Many of the aftermaket and specialty vendors sell these seats. You can always call them for measurements and then compare it to the Pagoda rear area. How would you fasten the backrest of the seat?

A decent interior shop could fabricate a bench seat for the rear from scratch just as easily. Just copy the style found in the W 113 California Coupe. (Where the legs of backseat passengers would go I have no idea....)
Alternatively, you could find and install a transverse jumpseat. I believe Gernold just did that for someone in this group. (Right, Tom?)

I don't like the idea of having my kid sideways.

I think all the details provided here are correct, i.e. a 107 won't fit, but you could have something fabricated locally as Doug suggests. That being said, let me just add something about actually using a kinder seat.
While accidents with our 113's are uncommon (as the cars are), having an untethered child in that seat, if not illegal in some places, would be unethical. Most injuries and deaths occur from people flying out of the vehicle. I have a 6 year old daughter who loves "The Kiddie Car" but she'd never ride back there--and preschool, the police, and school assemblies on safety have her trained--she won't get into a car without seatbelts. I'd LOVE to have a kinder seat for effect, but I'd never use it with real kinder.
You might actually have some troubles getting anyone to actually fab one or even suggest an installation--too much liability. Jeez, you have the auto companies recalling millions of vehicles for all kinds of safety related issues, things like the wrong grade of steel bolt on a seat bolt anchor etc. How are you going to affix this kinder seat? Will it be safe?
The 113 is a two-passenger vehicle. Get the kinder seat for nostalgia but PLEASE keep your kid properly tethered in the front in a child seat. We can say all we want here, but one thing I think all of us DO NOT want to hear are any condolences.

I have a rear bench seat that I removed from my california coupe, that I'm not using. The back rest was modified to work after a softop was added by a previous owner, so that the top well could be set up properly, but the seat itself is in good condition. Both seat and back are covered with cognac leather. Let me know if you are interested.

Does anyone with a transverse seat here have a seatbelt back there? Richard? Do you have a Kangol back there? Just curious.

I have a seatbelt on my transverse seat, not sure what brand it is, I will try to look next time I take out the car. I take my 7 year old back there quite frequently.

For anyone who has not seen a kinder seat option, here is one from a car currently advertised on EBay.
