Title: Hose clamp correction
Post by: ctaylor738 on April 20, 2019, 23:33:37
I'm working on a very early, low-mileage, mostly original  280SL.  The upper radiator hose clamp has been replaced with a Norma stainless clamp.  I would like to send it out with a correct clamp.

What type to look for?  A winder-type? Or a flip-type? Or a screw-type?

The heater hoses have the 9 mm winders.

Thanks.

There is also a picture in the BBB showing this clamp on the radiator:

Only place I have found them is Authentic Classics.

About five years ago, I got a couple from the US Classic Center for my Fintail.

I have always wondered why Mercedes used flip clamps on the radiator hoses.  (Yes, I know I need to get out more.). Was it to make it easier to unhook the hose and make sure the block was filled when changing coolant?
