1969 280SL Automatic
Originally this was a dark blue metallic but has since been changed to white.
You can see the original color on the dash.
Runs and drives nicely
Lots of recent work done.
New Cognac interior per COA

Beautiful car!  I like how the side markers and bumperettes were removed.

It has the hard door pockets, so, it might be a Euro car (not USA), and therefore the lights and bumberettes might not have been removed, but actually never there in the first place.

And has the "automatic" emblem below the model number, usually just done on European models.

It looks like a nice car with many original touches (yes, I know of the color change).

Hmm...ok.  Guess I was thrown by the USA sealed beam headlights.

I suppose it may have been grey imported and someone swapped out the headlights (certainly easier than filling sidemarker holes).

teahead, if a Euro car was imported into the US early in its life it was often a requirement of the DOT to change the headlights to sealed beam and the speedometer to mph.  That is what happened to my Euro 230SL.  I have since swapped the headlights and speedo back to Euro specs.
