My 1968 280 sl 4 speed is being restored by Gus in Houston Tx. The car was shipped to him this past August and today I delivered tires and wheels and wanted to check progress.

All I can say is his work is just the best I have seen. My car sat for almost 20 years and was a basket case. Now I can see that in short order (as long as my cash holds out) this will be a real winner that I plan to drive like I stole it! Guess I mean to say I will use and drive and enjoy! Not a trailer tart!

In basket case one point will support - engine spit water out number 6 and tail pipe! Head had in nickle size hole that leaked into number 6. Needless to say head was junk.

Thanks for the post regarding Gus' shop in Houston.

I am in Houston as well and currently working on a 70 280SL.  I would like to visit Gus' shop but I cannot find any info about contact for the shop. Could somebody pass me a phone number so that I might give them a call regarding potential work on my car?  A post, PM, or email would be great.
