I am putting my hard top together and I believe that I am missing a seal or something is not correct on the quarter window. The rubber seal that I received that goes around the window is too narrow to fit the chrome piece that surrounds the window. Do I have an incorrect seal or is there another rubber piece that holds the window. My seals were from URO; 113 670 01 39.

Jim,
take a look at the SLS web site:
https://www.sls-hh-shop.de/main/en/mercedes-230-280sl-w113-/77-79-softtop-hardtop/79-hardtop
You also need #15 and #16.
Also did you see Gernold's article here in our tech manual?

Alfred .... Those look like the items I need; are they available from a stateside supplier?

Jim:
#15 = Mercedes p/n 001 987 2525
#16 = Mercedes p/n 001 987 2625
both are sold by the meter.
Haven't found an aftermarket supplier; perhaps you can get some discount from Tom Hanson.

The quarter windows were as hard of a job as I have done on these cars. I needed to thoroughly lubricate the seal, pry from the bottom with a putty knife and work the seal in from the rear. About the time I though that the window would break, it popped into the track. The additional seals could then be pressed in with a wooden stick, it took a reasonable amount of pressure. When everything was installed, I cannot imagine this window ever leaking.
I will also say that restoring the hard top with a new headliner is a challenging task but it looks great after it is finally back on the car.
Thanks for the assistance.

Just a FYI I have supplied the local upholster/ restoration shop twice with quarter windows, one he broke using metal pry tools and once he got from another shop that had cracked it, so it is possible just be careful and use the plastic pry tools.

Read your experience report. The seals I have are doing the job, but are worn with time. Probably never replaced. Can these seals be replaced one at time by prying them out and replacing? Like door seals
