Hi,
I have a question about the 280SL lenses/reflectors on each side of the front fenders behind the headlights: I thought these were only rectangular, but I was just told that small round ones were offered for European models. Is that true? This car has the Euro headlamps, but it's a U.S. car. If the round lenses were an option, would it be better to go with those or the rectangular ones?
Thanks.

I think the round sidelight lenses were on italian models. Maybe others?

The round ones were installed on Italian cars and were once on my own car but were removed before I bought it. Frankly, I don't like them and find they mess up a perfect body line.

Some information on the factory mounted Italian side markers here:

Its a matter of personal preference. I like and am keeping mine. Plus if that is how it came from the factory why change it?

Like others said, round is on Italian. Rectangular on American

My '68 280 was built in '67. It looks so much better without them.
