This weekend I drove more than 700 km to pick up this NOS Abarth exhaust in Germany.
Have you ever seen this before?

Fun to see the vintage Abarth advertisement.

It lists a " noise emissions control device ".
I wonder how that worked?

I was thinking the same when I was in the need of a new exhaust system for my 1st 230 - 30 years ago. :o
There was just one of these Abarth exhaust sets offered for months and months in the "Auto, Motor & Sport" (Germany's leading car magazine) classified section and did not sell. ;)
Since I never opted for a more throaty exhaust tone,
I could not see any reason why this perhaps "nice-to-have" 'period add-on aftermarket part' whould cause any advantage to our W113 cars - with the exception of "more noise" and different looking chrome tips. :D
Certainly no increase in performance, or BHP so to speak.
Well, why should they?
Instead, the original exhaust system is already almost straight under the car without any fancy curves or extra bending,
and the pipes go just straight through the center resonator and rear muffler without detour (just being perforated),
so there is no real performance-increasing advantage the surely collectible Abarth set with its nice black shrinking paint could offer to the car - other than just being different. 8)
But certainly no higher overall brake horse power numbers. ???
Unless you can confirm this to me by real test (drive) results! :)
That's why I dropped out of these back then and rather stay(ed) with the more original system(s).
Nevertheless, EVW, this system would look very nice as a piece of art just hanging unwelded at the garage wall;
I would surely do that - if I had one of these Abarths. 8)
Now I can only do this with one of the original Gilet exhaust systems - while better placing a stainless steel system under the car. ;)

It's funny how different we all are
Here's me looking at trying to get a catalytic converter for the car while someone else is going for a louder throatier exhaust

Achim - where would the unit(s) go? The gases need to be hot so assume they'd need to go in place of the centre resonator box, as you call it, or in front of that
