Took an early morning drive in the fog. Took advantage of the factory fog lights. Does anyone else use their fogs as DRL’s? I usually use them on winding roads.

I do, very often. Driving lights at all time are mandatory here, I'd rather use the fog lights over the dipped main lights.

Me too. Always, as lights during the day are compulsory here as well. Using headlights is more burden for alternator and it also makes all the small and more difficult to replace bulbs in the dash burn faster.
It just required some re-wiring.

Is the re-wiring that is required described somewhere?

On my 250, an additional pull switch can be wired up to terminal “N” on the back of the headlight switch, or it can be wired to the small fusebox next to the brake booster. This will enable them to be turned on independently of the headlight switch pull function in which the parking/tail lamps are also enabled.
YRMV as there are variations on how the fog lamps are tied in at the factory.

In essence it is about powering the fog lights independently form headlights.

After importing my US 280 SL to Europe I had the lights rewired in such a way that the first position of the light switch clock-wise turn the fog lights on which I use as day time driving lights. They also function as turn signals. I have not changed my headlights to Euro version.
