Title: Fog lamps
Post by: JAubrey on September 08, 2018, 16:33:57
Were these fog lamps always a factory option. This car has them but option code 345 is not listed on the data card. It's a Germany spec car.

I may be wrong here, but I thought the fog lights on the German spec cars were integral to the headlights?? These may be aftermarket?

Indeed. These look like driving lights. Fog lights are integrated into the light assembly.

Also on north american 230-250 with the “AC” headlight doors. (Headlight surround/flasher unit). They were omitted on north american 280’s

In Germany - at least back in those days - you were allowed to add additional "high beam" lights. They had to be controlled by the high beam switch and had to go off with the low beam. A lot of us kids had these supplemental "rally' lights on our cars. A set of fog lights and a set of additional high beam lights mounted on the front bumper. Quite a light show!

I think the separate fog lights were a factory option in the USA.  They were the same as the fog lights on the
W114 sedans and coupes of the era. I think you have pictured the Bosch driving lights often added on. Not sure if these were another factory option of just added by owners.
