Hello,
Recently I have the horns blowing briefly when I am shifting into park (coumn shifter). I took the steering wheel off and it is obvious that in park when resting the lever or pushing it forward the shaft comes towards me and pushes against the horn ring forcing it to close contact.
BBB shows a Vulkollan?? ring?, Item 20 on a picture. Is this ring supposed to hold that shaft from sliding? I am not sure about this ring since I do not have the shock absorbing steering wheel version.

Make sure the two plastic bushings at the end of the shifter shaft under the horn ring are good (under steering wheel hub).

I took it apart last night. I found only one plastic bushing on the cabin side of the bearing housing. It wasn't in a bad shape and replacing it still allows the shaft end to slide about 1/4". On the other hand EPC shows only one piece 711. Should there be 2 bushings on both sides of the bearing housing? That would definitely eliminate the sliding and I can try it tonight.

I’ve put 2 bushings on either side of the housing and everything works great. So EPC is wrong, there’s 2 bushings.

Yes, two bushings are required. One on each side. Might try reversing the wires going to the horn ring switch.
