Title: Free to good home
Post by: steves sl on August 15, 2018, 20:29:48
I have fabricated a x-member and rear differential bracket...this will fit most engine stands. One side is used for the x-member flipping in over for the diffferential. Includes 4 brackets see pictures. The shipping costs are unknown and might be cost prohibitive...but it's heavy. I am finished using it and want to give it to someone on this site...YOU pay the shipping cost from Cedarburg,WI,USA.

Someone is going to get lucky. That is very nice of you, Steve.
That looks real nice.
I just texted Bob Youngman to see if he wants it.
He could drive up and get it.
Frank and plenty of other people might be interested in driving up to get it too.

Very nice developed jig Steve. Well done!

I PM’d Joe Alexander and Dan Caron those tow fellows always help out others as you may know during our PUB get togethers (they always have there heads under a Pagoda engine bay) while others have fun.

If either one of them has a need for it I think you should give them first choice ... just saying.

Best,

Dieter

Hi
I need a diff for a 1969 280SL Euro (disc brakes). Do you know the gear ratio and the condition of the seals. If it works I will be willing to pay for shipping or pick it up myself by trailer.

I hope that I am not confusing people. I am giving away just the brackets which mount to an engine stand.....not the dif or x-member both are in my 230SL.....so I am done with the brackets.

It looks like you are offering the red part in the photo. I could use it and would be willing to pass it on when I am done. My mother-in-law lives in Hartford, Wi. We are intending on paying her a visit soon. Definitely by Sept. 15 since it will be her 95 B-day. How can we arrange a pick-up?

You were perfectly clear. Just the red "jig" or "fixture", not the Pagoda components or the grey engine stand.

Huh, a local one.  Not many 113s around here.  Is yours running/driving?

Good idea......Joe Alexander and Dan Caron have first change on brackets. I met Joe at the PUB in Blacklick several years ago.....great guy and I am sure Dr. Benz is the same. Both always so helpful.

Steve,

Dan got back to me, he feels shipping costs to him might be too high. Joe has not got back to me, I know he has all kinds of tools and jigs for work he has done in the past. As I said, those two Gentleman help out anyone in need, it’s nice to give back when one can.

Whatever happens I hope your jigs find a good home and when they do are offerd to others in need.

Best,

Dieter

Steve, if you agree to hold on to it until I (or we) hear back from Joe then it would be great for us at least to offer it to those 2 Gentlemen first as a sort of giving something back for all they do for our site here and when we get together.

I will try to get in touch with Joe (since he has not replied to my e-mail) to make him aware of your offer, also will contact Dan again once I’ve spoken to Joe to let both know of the no cost delivery offer by 280slover. I think we can all agree that ether Dan or Joe should have first choice. My thinking here is not only what I’ve stated before that both help others whenever they can also if any member here has this kind of work needed on his car there would be less expense since the tools (jigs) are available.

If nighter Dan or Joe has no need for it then a member that has need for it should get it. Having said that it would be nice if the inevidual that eventually uses those jigs for a project offers them here on our site to another member needing it for his project just like you have done here Steve. I will try to call Joe and once I spoke to Joe and Dan I will get back here.

Thank you 280slover for offering this free delivery to ether Joe or Dan.

Cheers,

Dieter

Thanks Steve and rest for thinking about me.. I have already built my own fixtures for doing this exact work. Send them off to another worthy pagoda person like Dan C. Thanks again, looks like a fine job of building them.

Steve,

I just talked to Dan as well Dan will be in touch here shortly.

Thanks again to offer them to the membership group, after all this is what it's all about members helping fellow members :).

Best,

Dieter
