Trying to source a set of new or good used French-market taillamps, which have long since been replaced with German-market versions on my French '66 230SL. Mr Fiat has the lenses only available for $300 (http://mrfiat.com/german/mercedes/230sl-250sl-280sl-pagoda/lights/mercedes-230-250-sl-pagoda-1963-68-french-version-rear-left-turn-signal-lens.html), but I've heard that the quality may be suspect. Not a high-priority job, but I'd like to return it to its original state at some point. Thanks!

Don’t know about Mr. Fiat, but I just bought a replacement taillight sets from Vintage Euro parts (Lens and chrome bezel). The first set, ($600) was a low quality set. Bubbles in the chrome……
After I talked to them, I was told that this set is made in Taiwan and is in fact a lower quality. They are also selling a higher quality set ($799) which they buy out of Germany. I am in the process of exchange and if interested, I can let you know what I think of the new one, once I get it. Working with them was very pleasant and in their defense they actually state on their side that it is a B-grade, which I missed.
They sell lenses only as well and you might want to give them a call.

Thanks, Dirk. I've had pretty good experience with Euro Vintage (as well as with Authentic Classics). Did you get French lenses (with the amber backup light)? This is a very specific style and I've only been able to find them at Mr Fiat.
