Title: interior door handle securing plates?
Post by: merrill on July 15, 2018, 15:05:47
hello
I have the door panels out for re covering on my 66 230 and  had a question.

Is there supposed to be a backing plate for the interior door pulls to screw into on the backside of the door panels?

please see attached photo,  only one of the 4 attachment points for my 2 interior door handles had a metal backing plate .

i did check SLS, Buds bend and the technical manual and a general search and I did not find any information.

thank you - Matt

I was dismantling my doors a couple of months ago and I may not remember correctly, but I think everyting except pockets is screwed to frame...

hi
you are correct, i went out and looked at the doors themselves and i see where the handles screw in.

Thanks!  Matt

Nothing to fasten to the door panel.
Door pulls are attached directly to the door frame itself.
If attached to the door panel, it would simply pull off each time.
