Title: 280se Warm up Running Device shims
Post by: perry113 on June 17, 2018, 02:42:10
Hi.
I am doing a major service on a 1968 280se coupe 4 speed and I am having an issue with the warm up running device.

I am looking for both the oval WRD housing shims and some WRD plunger shims. I called Fairchild and he does not have any he can part with.

Does any one have any sources?

Many Thanks.

Peter

You could make new ones if it comes down to it.

Mc Mater Carr has round metric shims and sheets of flat shimstock…………….

You can easily make the oval shims from a soda drink can which are .004" inch.  Trace an existing one or peen the sheet over the WRD and then cut it.  I've made many of these myself.  As for the round ones, they are available in a good hardware retail store with varying thicknesses but perhaps not exactly what you want so you'll have to mix and match with a number of them.

That's a great idea.
Thanks to all.
