Anyone recognize this automatic antenna? Pulled this from the 280. I don't think our cars came with these, but not sure. It's a '71 280.
See photo. Thoughts?

Oz, I stand to be corrected but I am under the impression that only Hirschmann antennas were installed at the factory. What radio was it paired with?
-
Ralph,
The radio is a Becker Mexico TR. Data Card also shows a Becker.

Oz: Bear in mind that automatic antennae are consumables out there in the world. My guess is that is a service replacement. It's Bosch, probably has a P/N on it that you can Google. It will turn up as a 90's version or some such. Jon

The "Correct" Hirschmans are tough to find. There are later models that are visually similar but not Correct.

I think I have one like the one you are showing or very similar. I bought it in original packaging a couple several years ago in Essen. I though I would install it in my Pagoda. It was packed in a consumer packaging for shelf to be sold as accessory. On the package, among other cars, 280SL was listed (could have been the 107 280SL as well). It might have been coming from 70s or 80s. I remember we had some difficulties wiring it, but anyway I decided to buy HIrschman, so I have this one somewhere...
Again - it was like you would go to a shop and bought a generic antenna - like someone wrote - a consumable.

Thanks much for your thoughts. The unit needs repair and I wanted your help to confirm that I wasn't abandoning something that the car came with.
Appreciate the help.
