My '71 has been undergoing a long, expensive restoration here in Southern California. All seemed buttoned up (wiring in particular was a mess) but we've run into one final problem. The brackets that attach to the aluminium hood came undone and my shop (or rather, the body shop they sent it to) has been unable to do an adequate re weld. I understand that aluminium (not to mention almost 50 year old) is hard to work with. But has anyone had this problem or have any ideas? Are there aluminum specialists (car or otherwise( that we could send the hood and brackets to? I figure we'll need to do a repaint on the hood after this but in that regard I'm kind lf lucky having the basic white which I've been able to match at my paint shop in the past. Any help, thoughts or pity would be appreciated!

What brackets are you referring to? The front hinge brackets are bolted on.
