Title: Top down drive, finally
Post by: 49er on May 27, 2018, 22:02:56
We have been all over the map, literally, and it seemed like every time we were back home it was too cold (or raining) for a top down drive. So here it is almost summer and finally, we lowered the top and off we went for a drive. It was wonderful . We have been in rented late model convertibles and they just don't compare to the pagoda for that top down feeling. One of our trips was up the California coast, through the redwoods, on to Oregon and over to Crater Lake and back. I took the very same trip in reverse 50 years ago this November in my 2 month old pagoda and today when I drove the car looking over the hood, holding the steering wheel, checking the instruments much as I did back then it was quite a feeling. The car has not aged a bit, only the driver.

Hi, John.

What color white do you have?  I'm going to get my 1965 230SL repainted at some point and am considering some different color options.

Regards,

Rich

Thanks, John. This is helpful. I was wondering if it might be the parchment white.

Regards,

Rich

Hi John,

Much the same weather pattern this year as you are experiencing. Happy to read that you and your significant other have enjoyed a similar trip as you did way back then when you got the Pagoda. Your car looks very good indeed. Wishing you continued top down weather in the coming months.

Best,

Dieter

Always a treat to see your car (plus trusty navigator) out and about in the foothills.

Nice whitewalls too! To answer over here: I’ve always had black-walls at least back to 79. Can’t speak for the earlier Dark Ages. Always those PO mysteries... oh wait, you wouldn’t know.  ;)

Happy drives!
