As I’m restoring a 250SL, I’ve just finished dissasembling everything bar the engine. (Will be done after body repairs)
I’m based in Melbourne Australia. I will need rubbers, grommets, light lenses, clips, trim, carpets, moulds, etc.
Who’s the best supplier to use? Country of origin doesn’t matter, US or European.
Does Mercedes make these parts or is a lot of it Chinese reproduction stuff?
Thanks again for your help

Hi there.
Try budsbenz in Georgia. He does loads of original and repro parts for the w113. I recently bought loads of repro rubber seals from him and the fit was perfect. There is loads stuff for the Pagoda that is not listed so drop him email for anything else you dont see on his site. Dlatham@budsbenz.com
Cheers

Have a look at our suppliers list https://www.sl113.org/wiki/Suppliers/Start where you will find several vendors that you could compare between.

Some parts are best to buy new original and others you can try to restore. Any rubber part is best renewed and new original or repro can both be OK. Parts like windshield seals are best bought OEM due to fitting problems.
All engine parts should be OEM or bought from reputable dealers.

Most parts are still aval=ilable from Mercedes. Kind of takes the fun out of it but it is handy.

Thank very much everyone, I’m sure I’ll find everything I need from the mentioned suppliers👍👍

What I exercised and what worked for me was:
1. I made a part list i needed
2. I put it in excel
3. I took at least 3 suppliers for each part (usually MB, Niemoeller and SLS as I am in Europe)
4. Listed the part numbers or catalogue numbers and prices with discount for each part
5. For each part picked the least expensive supplier (unless there were other factors invloved, such as originality or availability)
Funny thing is that the list I got as a result was usually 20-30% less expensive then any single supplier.
