Title: Colour Coded identification
Post by: Direct Connection 605 on April 16, 2018, 12:34:51
I’m restoring a 250 SL. Car is white with light brown trim. On disassembling the interior, it’s obvious it was originally painted dark green.
Question is, how can I identify the original trim and paint codes? Is the chassis number any help?
Thanks in advanced
Chris

Chris,

The chassis number and a contact at the MB Classic Center will get you the car's data card, which will have the data codes for the paint and upholstery.

There should also be a tag inside the engine bay, by the secondary hood/bonnet lock. This has the paint codes listed, but not the upholstery.

The details are listed in the tech manual on the site - https://www.sl113.org/wiki/DataCard/Start

Hi Chris,

If you need any help on the car, let me know, I live in both Melbourne and Kyneton and am happy to help out if you have any questions etc.
