Hello, can someone help me what is the color of the two electric wire for the float switch ? I can't find the number and colors on the colored wiring diagram. The man who sold me his Pagoda has put the electric wire for the reverse light on the float switch (as you can see on the picture). The colors of the two electric wires for the reverse light are black-yellow-red and grey-yellow. So what color have the wires for the floating switch ? I can't find them (maybe he puts them elsewhere... )

Hi,
in the wiring diagram of a 280SL it's no. 34 (missing for 230SL) with colours brown/white/green and black/red/blue.

That is most interesting. I have never seen a 230 SL with a float switch like that. I just went and checked through the parts manuals for the 230 SL (A,B and C versions) and there is no listing for a float switch on the brake reservoir.
Guessing that the previous owner wanted a warning of some kind, so rigged power from the reverse switch??

Thank you WRe and Jonny B !

Hi,
afaik the brake fluid reservoir with flow switch was introduced only for late Pagodas (250/280: see http://www.authenticclassics.com/Brake-Fluid-Reservoir-Fits-Late-250SL-280SL-p/auth-006190.htm) in July 1967 (major release change because of safety reasons). 230 models never had that flow switch (see http://www.authenticclassics.com/Brake-Fluid-Reservoir-Mercedes-230SL-250SL-p/auth-007831.htm)

That's non-original garbage....; kick that out of your '63 car.
230ies and early 250ies (up to serial no 002979) never had a brake fluid reservoir with float. Only thereafter.
You need to get an original brake fluid reservoir.
Cheers,
