Title: Camshaft and bearings source
Post by: Minerva on March 13, 2018, 11:11:38
Hi Folks
Just stripping a 250 cylinder head and i have major wear to the back 2 camshaft bearings and of course the camshaft itself. Where is the best source for a replacement camshaft and bearings. Camshaft number is 180 051 8601 (86).
By the way I'm in Ireland so closer to home the better!

Thanks Keith.

Check the head for straightness.  I am guessing it is not flat.

The #86 camshaft was also used on many sedans of the era, in case you want to go on a quest for a good used one. The cam supports are very pricey these days also. Now do you really want to run used rocker arms on the expensive new camshaft??  Costs tend to spiral out of control. Now you have to consider those used ball studs and contact pads ? $$$  SLS is near to you. The MB dealer is an option if you get with a good discount might be a good option.
