Title: Is our Insurance Coverage Up to Date ?
Post by: Rolf-Dieter ✝︎ on February 17, 2018, 17:12:07
The German Insurance Company “Hiscox” issued a table on our cars (I assume numbers 1 to 4 are similar to what is known from The Hagerty Oldtimer Insurance Company). Values for Note 1 to 4 are of course in Euros.

So based up on this is our insurance up to date. I upgraded mine 2 years ago, have to look at it again.

Dieter

PS. Anyway, interesting comparison.

I only insure my cars for liability. The Pagoda costs about $60 a year. That way I don't have to worry about alarm systems, agreed values, value fluctuations and all that. Only worry is theft!

Nice feedback ... Let us see what others have to say.

I think I pay too much now $720- Canadian per year. I have to think about that.

In Australia I have agreed value insurance at $175,000 AUD with remains becoming mine if written off, cost $450 AUD per annum.
Based on Club plate rego and up to 90 days use per year. Rego $70 AUD per year.

Not a bad deal.

Dieter,

I think we pay quite a bit more here in Canada. I live in the most expensive city in Canada for auto insurance.

I've only insured mine for an agreed value of CA$35,000 and pay CA$336/year with Hagerty.  When I renew this year I'm going up the valuation amount probably to about CA$65,000 and think that will cost about CA$600.

Hi Mike,

I paid last year $ 646- (May) at HAGERTY with a agreed value of Automobile $75,000- it includes all the other sections like Bodily Injury, Property Damage and Family Protection all at 1,000,000- each plus collision or upset, taxes, fees etc. etc.

It will properly increase again this coming May due to some of the idiot drivers out there causing smash ups due to drunk driving, sexing etc. At $60,000- you are properly right with your estimate of $600-

We are properly over insured, however, better be prepared and have piece of mind. Besides last shirt has no pockets and one cannot take it with you :) I drove mine in nearly 5 years over 12,000 miles and enjoyed every mile.

When our SL is ready for the road (month or 2), we will use Hagerty, we have I think 7 cars with them currently, and indeed, the agreed valuation is critical for any collector car.

I just got back from Spring Mountain Performance Driving School springmountainmotorsports.com (http://springmountainmotorsports.com), it was a blast, my second time there.

While there I was talking with a bunch of other car people and the subject of insurance came up. Two guys who each had many cars said they used National Corvette Museum Insurance http://ncminsurance.com (http://ncminsurance.com) for their cars, one had left Hagerty for NCM and said he saved almost 50%. So for any of you in the USA, you should check with them.

I have had Hagerty for nearly 18 years with my cars. We typically have an annual review for my policy which includes several cars.
I highly recommend owners make certain you have enough coverage. I would even say maybe more than what your street value for your car is. The difference in premium is almost nothing when you increase it.
