Hello all. I completed the restoration of my 1966 230SL and have photos available on my blog. (dadsmercgarage.wordpress.com) I received a lot of help from the group and just wanted to say thank you. It's amazing how much information is available here. Now I think I need to rebuild my suspension so I'll be searching for how that is accomplished. I have no idea about where to even start. Again thank you all for your help.

Congratulations on your vehicle. May I suggest you start with the search button on the Home line not the right hand corner using suspension but also have a read of the Tech Manual under the same heading.
The best part of my restoration was the suspension and the enormous improvement it made to the car overall by replacing/overhauling all the parts as needed. It was the best value dollars spent on the car.
Good luck

Hello Dave,
Welcome to our Pagoda SL Group and congratulations on your restoration project so far. As Garry mentioned the suspension work will provide great improvement for the old lady, it will be like getting the most comfortable shoes you can think of :) also check your tires and the age of them.
Best,
Dieter
Garry, what did you all do, replaced all the rubbers, shocks and springs?

Replaced all the shocks, all rubbers, king pins but not the springs, that appeared to be giving the correct ride height. It was like driving a new car.
