Title: Worn Manual 4 Speed Shifter
Post by: specracer on February 06, 2018, 01:00:22
I have looked in the tech manual, and also done a lot of thread searching, and there is a lot of discussion about worn bushings. My shifter is VERY sloppy, and just shifting it, while not moving, feels like a 6 speed. The bushings are actually pretty good. The issue is at the pin that is pressed through holding the splined shaft. The holes are ovaled out, and there is a lot of slop in many directions (see picture i took from tech manual circling the issue)

Is this shaft available new? Common to find them used? Or should I perhaps tack weld the pin?

Thanks in advance

I had a friend spot weld the pin and works great.

Thank you for the reply, I hoped tacking the pin with a weld would be an acceptable solution.

If the welding does not work out, I believe I have two spares - PM me.
