Hi folks, probably a question that has been answered before but I cant just work it out.
I am rebuilding a 230sl for a customer and he wants to fit RHD Euro lights in place of the US spec headlights.
I've been googling and looking through this forum and cant come up with a definitive answer. If we source a set of LHD euro lights, will a new set of RHD lens be enough to convert the beam to a RHD set up? As I read it the reflectors are different between RHD and LHD lamps with the parking bulbs in different positions, does this mean that the reflectors also delflect the beam in addition to the lens pattern?
Hope all this makes sense.
Thanks,
Keith.

Hi Keith,
I am sure changing the lenses will do the trick. As for the LHD and RHD headlights with different park lights, you will probably find that the light fittings were LH and RH with either LHD or RHD lenses. I dont think mixing the LH/RH fittings will make any difference
Hope it makes sense.

Chris

Keith,
You just need to switch the lenses out as Chris said.

I'm not so sure. I believe the reflectors are different.

RHD Lens 113 826 03 90
RHD Reflector 113 826 15 78
LHD Lens 113 826 02 90
LHD Reflector 113 826 14 78
Both need to be replaced.

You can convert LHD reflectors to RHD.
Turn them round 180 degrees and file a new notch for the headlamp bulb.
The parking light bulb will now be in the right place as well.

Thanks to all for all the very knowledgeable replies. Looking through all of them I think the cars owner is going to buy a new set of lights based on all the advice here.
Thanks again and Happy Christmas!
Keith.
