The 1967 iconic movie staring Audery Hepburn, Albert Finney and, the real star of the movie, a white 280SL is showing tonight on TCM at 8:00pm EST in the US.
It is a classic that every 280SL lover should see!

The 1967 iconic movie staring Audery Hepburn, Albert Finney.../...
Actually, the SL is a 230SL. Rumour has it, that it was Hepburn“s personal car, used in the film (!).
She was a great beauty

One of my favorite movies, for obvious reasons:-) I posted the following some years ago. Still a great memory for me.
"I first saw the movie when it was released back in 1967 and didn't realize at the time that a 230SL was one of the "stars" (along with Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney). Needless to say I loved the movie and when I came out to my white 250 SL (my 280 SL's predecessor) after the movie, there were a group of people gathered around the car. I think they were a little disappointed when Audrey or Albert didn't show up :) "

I think John that they were also a bit envious when you drove off, in your Pagoda, all stylish... :D

I think I read somewhere the 230 SL actually belonged to Stanley Donen (I've been wrong before, though)

When I bought my second Pagoda the salesman assured me it was "a sure chicken magnet". It has really never worked much for me . I brought the car back to the dealer several times for them to repair the defect. In the end I was told that there was nothing wrong with the car. The female service writer told me , if I would shave and dress nicer, the advertised feature may work ?

Everyone in my family knows our Pagoda as "Audrey"
Perhaps it's because she and I look so much alike :o

I watched that movie the other night. Couldnt help but notice 2 large chips in the leading edge of the hood. There was clearly red paint under that white!
I saved it on my DVR. Will see if I can get a screenshot.

I have that movie on DVD - need to check when you could see them... The moment they had a fight and she walks in front of the car?

You seem to be right; this is from imdb:
"The "present day" car (a Mercedes 230SL) was the director of the film Stanley Donen's own personal car"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062407/trivia?ref_=tt_trv_trv (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062407/trivia?ref_=tt_trv_trv)
I don't fully get it however; Donen is an American with a Hollywood career, yet the 230 SL is RHD...?

Audrey Hepburn was a great beauty too. :D

When I purchased the 250 from the original owners, they included a copy of this movie along with all the paperwork etc in the bundle handed to me. They ordered the car in 717 White in 1967 after seeing it in this movie. I would think a lot of Pagodas were sold after the release of this film. Maybe that's why there seem to be a lot of white ones out there. :D

Hi Hans. Donen was indeed American, but lived in the UK for several years in the late sixties, were he did a number of films.
