Dear friends ,
What type of black originaly colour is the rear axle , is it gloss , semi gloss or mate ?
Thanks

Mine is kind of a road-grime brown colour ;)

Semi-matte flat black, just like fuel tank and front suspension. I use 60/40 mix (gloss/matte)

Thanks mbzse..

I have powder coated many items and have used a 60% gloss black. I feel it is very close and maybe a bit on the gloss side. Both axle and spring are powder coated 60%.

You are right , that’s what I found out the colour should be semi gloss...thanks

Did you powder coat the springs as well? Just wondering what finish will take the movement without cracking.

Yes, the springs were powder coated as well. I was assured by the supplier that powder coating would not crack while the spring moves. Powder coat is not as brittle as paint. I would imagine you would want to limit the thickness of the powder coat to ensure durability. That was about seven years ago and the springs still look great.

Powdercoating is a thermal plastic coating. very flexible. I work on a yacht and anything we have serious corrosion issues with gets powdercoat then paint over the top.

Just realized I had an axle housing on my floor that still had the original paint on it.

It looks like semi gloss ...thanks
