Does anyone know if the relay in the ballast resistor bypass circuit is energized all the time or just when the starter is energized? I am doing some rewiring to reconnect previously cut wires. Might someone have a schematic of the modification? I'm guessing that the relay is energized as long as the key is on, thus allowing a path 12 volts when the starter is energized.

Fit a 123 ignition/distributor and do away with the ballast resistors!

Appreciate the input but would like to stay in original configuration.

Circuit is energized only via starter circuit. If it was energized all the time the key was on it would always supply 12v to the coil, as the resistor would be bypassed.
Cheers, Dale.

Orig config did not have ballast bypass on .042 or .043 chassis.

If you search "starter bypass circuit" you will find a post with a very good diagram - the second diagram, NOT the first.

I searched but it only brought me to the responses to my inquiry. :(

Did you use the search function in the line above starting with "Home" on the left?
If you did you should get 6 hits.

Yes, I did get 6 hits but did not find any schematics?

In hit #2: https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=25163
did you not see the schematics in replies #10 and #17? ???

I did now. Thank you so much.
