Title: Heater core valve
Post by: vande17941 on September 27, 2017, 15:47:24
I have noticed that my heater core valve isn't closing all the way and needs the little adjustment linkage rids adjusted (the one I can see through the firewall with the rubber plug removed.

It looks like absolute hell trying to figure out how to adjust those heater linkage rods through that tiny hole. Does anybody have any tips or tricks?

If I recall, pop the ball off the valve and then pull the rod through the hole to adjust?  If not easy to pull, rotate the control in the car.

Well I can reach about anything there is in this car....but working through that little hole and getting that thing to where I can adjust it does NOT look fun.

Great info there...I must have been blind not to find that page. Will give it a whirl, though it doesn't look fun.

Believe me the tech manual item is a piece of cake compared to the alternative - pulling out the heater core. I have the bruised knuckles and strained back to prove it. And not only was I a punishment glutton once, I did it twice! Once on my car and once for a friend.

Pulling the heater core looks like it would be the most terrifying job on the car? I hope and pray mine never leaks.
