Title: 1964 230SL RHD Manual
Post by: Raffles84 on September 24, 2017, 18:36:42
Hi All,

I am restoring my 230sl and was looking to buy a compete new wiring loom for the car as over the years it's been totally bodged up with bare wires etc.
Any help would be appreciated.

There's lots of suggestions on this Forum and in the Technical Manual about wiring. When I started researching this, I came across
http://www.autosparks.co.uk/finder
which might suit you if you're in the UK,
and
www.riwire.com
in the U.S.A.

A challenge seems to be that the aftermarket sources don't promise to provide new connectors. If you can reclaim the connectors from your bodged up wiring loom, that might help you.

Someone with a workshop and tools might feel confident enough to make their own. Plenty of information available to help.

Many thanks for your help, the supplier in the UK has what I was looking for.

Anyone know where I can find details how to refurbish the speedo and instrument clusters?

The first thing to do is a ‘search' function of the Forum using the Home line on the headers.

There are lots of posts on recommended repairers. and of people doing some of their own repairs.

Garry is right - the search function is your friend. Palo ALto and North Hollywood will come up most but they are in the US. There are UK suppliers such as JDO but I've not used any (yet).
