Title: wind leak under steering column.
Post by: srisant on September 21, 2017, 12:37:54
Hi,

My car experience hot air from engine compartment when going at high speed leaking from somewhere under the steering column. Can anyone advice me where leakage is from?

Best,

I recommend you take along a small passenger on a test drive to locate the leak. That is what I would do.

it must be from firewall pad ... good luck  .

I would guess it is from one of the grommets on the firewall. At PUB this year, we saw a number of cars with the larger grommets on the left side (LHD cars) that were completely gone, or almost gone. These are the complex grommets with three to four cables/wires running through them.

Thanks I will take a look again but I remembered that I have replaced them during my full restorations.

From  my experience, there are a couple of the grommets that are not so obviously visible - the one on brake pedal and the gas pedal related elements that are going through the firewall.
