I just got my car back the other day after I had my sub frame bushings replaced. I just wanted to share with everyone what a huge difference this can make. My car handles better, drives smoother and is much quieter. I have had the front end inspected by several "experts" and none of them commented on these bushings.

When you say it is quiter, in what respect? What kind of noises did it make before ?
Reason I ask is mine looked good 2 years ago but I suspect them now !

I replaced mine this past summer as both were severed in two. This was observed with the front end on jack stands and the front subframe unsupported. However, you wouldn't know it by driving the car, as there were no handling anomalies. Ironically, after replacing the bushings myself I noticed no difference in driving traits.
Perhaps it's the "obligatory" front-end alignment that makes the car perform differently. I didn't have one done afterwards, but then again the car didn't pull. For those DIY'ers, this is a very satisfying job if your car needs it.

I suspect that engine vibration and noise were being transmitted through the car because the bushings had disintegrated. The noises and vibration are normal but, their volume is now significantly reduced.
I understand it is easy to determine if the bushings need replacment by jacking up the car, putting the front end on jackstands and see how far the sub frame hangs. Mine was actually leaning against the oil pan.
