Title: Dipstick Handle Red Paint Color
Post by: rbouch8828 on August 20, 2017, 01:15:14
Does anyone know what the red paint color is for the dipstick handle? I am re-painting mine.

I would find as many original engine pictures as you can and match. There are many on this site. I would imagine that red color could vary some over the years and between manufacturers.

Would be hard to go wrong with Signal Red, DB 568 (it would have been a type of paint they had available too). I think the very latest cars, with a ring type handle had a brown/tan dipstick top.

Easily available from a number of on on-line sources. I have used paintscratch.com with excellent results, and they can provide touch-up bottles, rattle cans, or regular cans.

I used nail polish (enamel); it worked very well. As you can imagine, you can find an infinity of shades of red. It's also very durable and cheap.

The only thing is it's a bit awkward when you're checking out at the store. ;D

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I had been guessing at "Signal Red", but hadn't found anything in the manual or forum on it. Then I tried to find something that matched at the local auto parts store, but there were so many reds it got confusing.

Thanks again!!!
