Title: Dipstick maximum and minimum markings
Post by: RPSchuetz on August 18, 2017, 05:14:53
Hello all!

I'm wondering if anyone has info on the quantity of oil represented by the maximum and minimum markings on the dipstick. I'm guessing it's slightly more than 1.5 quarts, but my owner's manual is silent on the subject...

Hi,
in some manuals you'll find a note that minimum oil quantity is 3.5l and maximum is 5.5l, without oil canister capacity (~ 0.5l). That means that the difference between min and max is ~ 1.5l, arithmetically speaking.

I'm thinking closer to 1 liter. The assumption being that the oil filter canister would already be filled after running your engine when checking oil.

Yes,
that's what also my memories are ... about two liters (2 quarts are almost 2 liters).

That matches also the minimum 3.5 liters versus maximum 5.5 liters numbers in the owners manual.
