Title: Tearing down my Pagoda
Post by: CJHenderson on August 16, 2017, 23:40:59
Getting ready to go to the sandblasters and paint. Have the rear end and drive shaft to go and then build a dolly to roll it on to a trailer.

With the steel body that I have there is a lot of corrosion and several layers of paint so they will use sand. For the aluminum parts I have to find a shop that works with that type of metal.

CJ,
I hope the shop doing the sandblasting is well versed in doing car bodies.  You can quite literally destroy a car by sandblasting it.  The metal gets hat and it warps horribly like the car went through a fire.

CJ,
Have you considered "strip cleaning" it ? It takes everything off, paint, bondo , rust.... and goes to areas you wouldn't be able to reach with blasting.
I did it and liked the outcome very much.

What kind of stripper is the best? After reading the posts I'm hesitant about having my aluminum parts blasted.
