Hi Guys.
I would appreciate your advice/thoughts on what's the best way to spruce-up the chrome [both inside & outside] on my 280? I'm almost there with the upholstery. I've had the bodywork treated and a repaint so I don't want to have the final touches let this car down [in terms of looks/finish]. Not sure if I should polish it myself - so I thought I'd put it out there - as your advice/opinions have been very appreciated so far. More pictures coming soon...........

Not sure exactly what you are looking for, but if it is a recommendation for chrome polish the absolute best product I have ever used is Quick Glo. Available directly from the manufacturer, http://www.quick-glo.com/ , or a a lesser price from several vendors on-line. Attached picture shows surface rust removal from portions of a neglected front bumper. Rub on, rub off and be amazed with the results.

Hopefully this is relevant to Joh as well, and sticking with the chrome theme, has anyone used any product for removing very fine scratches and swirl marks in chrome?

Autosol polish works well and seems to leave a slightly oily protective finish. But ejboyd's recommendation of Quick-Glo sounds good (I guess he would've already tried Autosol). And Quick-Glo comes in standard and fine grades which should get a super shine. It may not be readily available in the UK though.

Surface rust on chrome is lick black heads on skin. You can exfoliate and it will look better but the underlying cause is not treated. Rusted chrome can be made to look better but it will take a lot of care and attention to keep it looking good; much more than undamaged chrome needs.
