Title: Ash Tray Hinge
Post by: Atazman on August 02, 2017, 02:09:21
Can someone with an ash tray please snap a picture of the hinge details.  Interested in seeing how the lid hinges to the body.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, WRe, but I can't speak the language and I did not see/read anything where I could click onto a picture.

Appreciate your help though.

Don,
the lid is attached to the body by 3 crimped tabs in the back. Tension to keep the lid open and more importantly to keep it closed without rattling is provided by a spring steel ribbon under the middle tab.
What you see in the photo is a lid that no longer stays closed. One of my many attempts to fix something!  :o

Alfred and WRe......

Thanks to both of you for the pictures.  I expected a regular hinge, so the explanation of how they work is really beneficial.

This is a great forum.

Thanks for the EBAY pictures, Pisani.  My new wood console is going to have a home-made ashtray soon.
