Hello !
Does anybody have "matching" numbers
or letters on his plates ? Like "MBZ"
or "113" or 280 or something similar ?
I`m starting with my own one:

Ha nice one Tom !!
Unfortunatley here in Southern Ireland you get what you get ! You cant pick and choose, unless its a new car, and the number stays with the car forever ! :(

Ben in Ireland.

Hi Tom
Nice house! Lots of curtains I bet!
I was lucky to be able to pick from the plates available at my small rural licence office and got "250 GPV" (German Pleasure Vehicle) or so I tell everyone :D
Here in Quebec we don't have front licence plates, but I found a Montreal Expo 67 plate at a farm auction and it gets lots of attention

Tom,
I had a custom German license plate made for me--by a company in Florida, no less. Those Europeans who have seen it say it is pretty accurate. Mine reads:
"1969 280SL"

I chose this because everyone already knows its a Mercedes based upon the 3-point star on the grill; the badge on the hood; and the star again on the trunk deck. But the two questions that come up are "What year is it? What model is it?" so that explains my choice. We have only one required plate in Michigan so this fake and decorative plate is on the front--except at an MB Concours! :)

A manager at Mercedes R & D in Untertuerkheim has license plate
S - R 113
on his 280 SL (as you know, thats not a vanity plate, but actual registration).

Here is my front plate. Purely a Vanity plate, although I have had onlookers look at the plate and say "oh, you imported the car from Germany..." Well, true enough.

And here is mine (also from Florida, but it "fools" a lot of my German friends). Here in California, this is technically illegal, but I haven't been stopped for it yet (knock on wood).

I realize you're asking about legal plates, but I thought I'd show mine anyway. I got them for shows because they fit and look much better on my European model car than the CA ones. Of course I can't drive on the street with them.

BTW, David, how does one post a photo so it appears in the message itself without having to follow a link?

For those looking to give their car a unique or personal look try the Platemeister before buying. Here you can choose from most of the countries around the world. The Platemeister also has U.S. antique plates to give your US 113 a more authentic look. Best of all you can see how it will look like before you order. www.licenseplates.tv

Cees:
If you ever decide to part with that vintage Georgia plate you have an interested buyer, although it is rather curious as I don't believe Georgia ever put more than six characters on a plate prior to 2002.
I just registered my car in my home state of Georgia (although it is still in San Diego undergoing restoration) and opted for the plate shown in the photo below. Not sure what I'll put on the front, if anything.

Hello Ed. Just had a closer look at my Georgia plate - I made an error, it reads "MB SL". It's from 1976 I think, anyway here's a photo:
