So I have turn signals but no hazards lights. I took apart the hazard switch and it seems to be ok. But shouldn't the one hot input ALWAYS have juice? The hazards should work with or without the key in right? So using that logic one of those 6 pins that go to the hazard switch should ALWAYS have juice. Before I get deeper into the wiring I figure I would bounce this logic off the experts here.

Just went to the garage to check my 1970 280 SL, and indeed the flashers work with the key out.

Hi Bob. The live feed comes from fuse #1. For some reason, the wiring diagram does not give the color codes, but it may be white/slate (gray), but this is only a guess. Cheers, Dale.

Thanks Hans. I missed going to the color diagrams. The wire appears to be Red with black/white tracer - so much for my "guess". Cheers, Dale.

Hi Bob. It's #18, and I misled you, as the wire color is red with a white tracer - this old age thing is a curse !! Cheers, Dale.

so new wrinkle... with hazard in off position the turn signals work, with it in the on (pulled out) position the turn signals do not work and the hazards still do not work. I see am going to have a long evening of tracing down wires.

Bob, the turn signals not working when the hazard switch is pulled is normal. The hazard switch electrically disconnects the turn signal combination switch when activated. Keep your focus on making sure the hazard switch has power with key off.

So I am still trying to find out why I am getting no power to the hazard switch, so I decided to make sure everything else is working and I got to the horns that I need to install, with the key in the on position both horn wires (one on each horn) have juice. It is my understanding from the tech manual that these run in parallel so it is ok that these have juice all the time the key is in on position or the car is running. If I understand correctly when I hook the horns up then it will require the horn to be depressed to ground and complete the circuit. This all sound correct?

that is how the horns are wired to fuse #2 according to the wiring diagram. As a full member you have access to it. Take a look, the horns are number 11:

Perhaps one or two of the wires in the plug have been mixed up during assembly?
Or your Bosch 0 335 240 002 relay is not more working properly.
Have you checked with a spare relay?
