For a while I have been looking to find The snowflake decal for the windscreen. I could only find this available in the US.
Shipping a one decal to Spain would end up costing over $40.
EBay was not much use either. Various decal sets for sale, most included decals not for a 280SL. This set me thinking…
Having recreated the “change tire hang tag” a couple of years ago. I thought I would start my own small project of
Recreating the engineering tags. It Started with the snowflake. But I seem to have got a bit carried away…
I only did the non-foil decals, as I could not print these at home. (my originals were good anyway).
So now I have a set of decals that I can print. Inkjet sticker paper is avaible on amazon. Problem solved.
Attached below is A jpg image of the recreated decals on a A4 sheet.
If anyone wants to have a go at making their own decals PM me with your email address and I can email you a
High resolution PDF file suitable for printing.
That’s me good deed for the day.
Best regards
DM

Hi, DM,
That is a very generous offer. You are full of good ideas and generous acts, as in this decal effort and your idea to use LED tape in your tail lights.
I've sent a private message also.

Is there any copyright on these things? Not that I'm worried but just wondering.
-
DN,
Thank you very much.
I have already bought the decals elsewhere, but your initiative and generous offer is much appreciated.

I've added them to the Technical Manual for posterity.
Have a look here, it includes tips on placement...

Hi all,
There has been quite a response to my Engineering tags / Decals. I’m glad you all seem to be happy with the results.
It has been an enjoyable side project. I am very pleased to share the results with fellow members here.

Thanks you Darren for your fine work on putting the decals group all together and allowing us to have it in the Technical Manual.
I have done a trial print and it works just fine.

What specific paper did you use?
-
I was wondering the same thing. Also what do you recommend for the snowflake emblem??

A quick search on Amazon. ebay is another one to try. Staples should also supply.

Thank you very much DM for the decals, I hope to get them printed this week.
For anyone with a 230SL, I believe the decal below is the one that goes in the soft top compartment. I've only seen the German version on SLS but I know there is an English version available and I remember someone mentioning there was a French version.
-
Original decal. Car 1st delivery to Switzerland.
-
Jordan, here is a later multilingual version including English.
Jowe, I love the runny glue in your picture! :)
This is the original decal on my car, delivered 12 February, 1969, at Sindelfingen with USA Specs. No runny glue but wrinkled up since new. Attention to detail in applying logos was apparently low priority.
DM, thanks for the great effort and for making your work available to the group.

I'm looking for the tag for the hangs from Left Trunk Arm for instructions on Spare Tire. Mine is a German Euro Car. Do you have this tag? Also there is a tag for the car jack in yellow would you have that tag for the jack. Both of these would like in German language
Thanks you in advance
Any suggestions
