I wanted to start a thread specific for determining the correct decals and locations on the 230 250 and 280SL's. I have seen decal sets out there but I am not certain these decals are 100% correct.
The first decal I am trying to verify if for the coolant overflow tank.
I just restored mine and would like to install the most correct decal I can find.

Peter,
as you may have realized from your previous attempts:

this is not an easy task to complete. Probably the person who knew most about these engineering tags was the late Bob Geco.
Unless someone can provide information based on written exchanges or purchases from Bob we'll have a hard time collecting accurate information.
But if it such info is out there why not adding it here? https://www.sl113.org/wiki/Main/EngineeringTags

In addition to numerous threads on our Forum (and the Manual), may some of the links help?

@ Seconding Garry's remark: once more it is a tangible demonstration of the benefits of being the Full Member. In this case, the cost of stickers exceeds the membership fee, so it would be a waste to risk misplacing them...

Hi Stan,
thanks for the link to the Star article - it made me chuckle! :D
Who drives a W1123 Pagoda? I can't answer Sherlock's question, can you? ::)
"Everyone loves a mystery. That’s elementary, my dear Mercedes lovers. The mystery was, where do the labels go on the W1123 Pagodas."

;D the name of W1123 should belong to the best labelled Pagoda... would that be yours? ;D

Please note, the W113 cars sold on the US market had different stickers compared to the Euro (and rest of the world) W113 cars.
This complicates matters. Also, the positions and sticker types varied depending on year of production. Further, there were stickers with other languages than German (English and French for instance).
But, for sure this is a set of information that deserves to be addressed; and thereafter be added to our Technical Manual :)
Re: the 230SL expansion tank, see attached for label designations and position (on a Euro car). This info is courtesy of Bernd Meyer-Brockel (Germany).
Also illustration of German and US version of these stickers

Thank you mbzse for adding some extremely useful information to this tread. I agree with you that this information needs to be addressed in the forum and in the technical manual.
I also want to point out and thank Brian Peters from Motoring Investments for his incredible website and how he documents the W113 series 280SL roadsters in particular.
There is a wealth of information in reference pictures that include decals on the many 280SL series W113's he has restored and represented.
I wish he would document some more 230SL's on his sight.

I can across some pictures of a low mileage believed to be very original 1965 230SL
Take a look at the coolant overflow tank to see the decals.
I thought this would be helpful to forum members with 230SL series cars.
