Hi,
Is a conventional bearing splitter the recommended tool? These hubs are a bit too big for the loaner tool at the auto store. It is a really neat tool, the diameter is just too small, I think it needs to fit over 42mm going from memory.

May be used. The factory tool can be seen in the attached pictures. Main thing is, be sure to only pull at the center hub.
Absolutely do not pull on the flange; this will distort the pulley and it is no longer running true... (very hard to rectify)

There never seems to be a factory tool available when it is needed...

Ron, I have that puller. You can borrow it if you like.

That pulley can really be a bugger to get off. I bough a puller that didn't fit and ground the jaws until it did. It took a fair amount of heat to get it to pop off the tapered shaft.

I happened to have a pneumatic body chisel and a pointed tip attachment. I set the pump loosely in a vice with the pump facing down and the pully supported. (2 blocks of wood would also work) There is a centering divot in the end of the shaft left over from manufacturing that you can use. Leave the nut loosely on the shaft and break the pully free with the chisel on that centering divot. Doesnt take much.

Thanks for the offers, this is a great group.
